FOR IMMEDIATE INTERGALACTIC RELEASE

Earth Date 02.04.08

WOMENS’ SCIENCE FICTION BOOK CLUB ENDORSES BARACK OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT

Los Angeles—The Womens’ Science Fiction Book Club announced today that it is endorsing Senator (D-Il.), author, and Sci-Fi advocate Barack Obama for President of the United States. This morning’s declaration from the positronic four-member brain trust reinforced recent endorsements from fellow supporters of literacy, culture, and the investigation of the space-time continuum, spurring Sci-Fi and “Geek the Vote” fans to Read a Book: Obey Sci-Fi in 2008.

Senator Obama—who drives a hybrid—belongs to the Next Generation of universally mindful politicians tasked with solving the global environmental, economic, and humanitarian crises of the 21st century. Born in Hawaii in 1961, Obama’s interest in science was fostered from an early age. He spent his first ten years a few miles from Honolulu Observatory, the world-renowned USGS center for the study of impulsive geomagnetic field disturbances, where current research leads the field in the investigation of enhanced polar ionization associated with geomagnetic storms. No stranger to stormy debate, the 46-year old Senator’s career blasted off in 2006 with his revelatory and controversial book The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream.

Sci-Fi Book Club Technology Director XBOT31 notes that “Senator Barack Obama’s science platform concentrates on improving technology, engineering, and mathematics through education and research. As President, he will focus on enhancing information technologies in their historic and contemporary forms to encourage faster exchange of ideas and increase transparency in the government. That is essentially what the Womens’ Science Fiction Book Club is all about. Read a book! Down with Big Brother!”

Committed to leading the world in the fight against the proliferation of nuclear weapons, climate change and poverty, genocide and disease, Senator Obama’s position on foreign policy is particularly resonant for Sci-Fi. “With his stellar credentials, exceptional intelligence, and uncommon humanity, Barack Obama’s presidential nomination will mark a universal shift in the geopolitical paradigm” said LIZZYBOT, Sci-Fi Book Club Historian and Peace Minister. “Obama’s successful candidacy formally acknowledges among automatons and space cadets alike the increasing dissatisfaction with war game theory, and it recognizes the critical need for movement toward peace and prosperity throughout the galaxy.”

The greater Sci-Fi community joined the Women’s Science Fiction Book Club in its resounding support of an American president who will lead the country—and the planet—away from a Brave New World and toward a brighter future. Noted Hugo award-winning author Isaac Asimov “Science fiction writers foresee the inevitable, and although problems and catastrophes may be inevitable, solutions are not.”

“Obama is a true statesman,” said Sci-Fi Book Club Human-Robot Relations Director Qween Logyztixx. “As we look past the Super Bowl and Super Tuesday, Californians have an unprecedented opportunity to effect real, meaningful change in America and throughout the solar system by voting for a candidate who stands for hope and equality for all Earthlings.” Added Sci-Fi Pattern Recognition Specialist REBCON a.k.a. CULTURE-MAKER, “As President of the United States, Obama will launch this country into 2009 like a Ba-rocket!”
