    Hi there,

My name is Traci Durfee and I am the Chairman of the Board for the non profit group Trade&Row. On October 24, 2009 we are holding our 2nd annual film festival at the Rec Center Studio in Echo Park. This year’s film theme is “hope and fear in uncertain times” explored through 11 films in the sci fi, fantasy and horror genres.

In addition to the films, we have an array of guest panelists who are sci fi writers and graphic novelist. The event will also be emceed by Grant Rosenberg and Garner Simmons.

I came across you site will researching for our event and thought I would extend the invitation to you and your book club members as this may be something you would all be interested in attending.

Please check out our website http://www.saturdayfantasy.com if you would like to see more about the festival. Should you have any questions or would like additional information, feel free to email me as well.

Thank you so much for your time!

    Best regards, Traci Durfee

    Girls Read Sci-Fi,

Found a real undiscovered gem…on the Sharpe Designs site, there’s this poster with the most deranged, bizarre creatures, machines & beings I’ve seen. It’s called Planet Art Poster, over on the right about halfway down the home page. Worth checking out.

    Peter, sci-fi fan.

I didn’t know that there was a club for women, like me, who read sf. Thought i might (ha ha be alone in the universe. I am 50 and have been reading SF since i was 8. I have some sf books, i would like to donate somewhere they will be read, or at least have that possibility… anyone know of any place that would take mostly paperback sf books? Farily eclectic selection from fantasy to hard sf….
    Thanks!

    Hey ladies!
I have been looking around online for various sci-fi clubs/societies/etc who appreciate all kinds of science fiction, particularly the “Commando Cody” and “Flash Gordon” serials. After 4 creative years, finally our retro sci-fi adventure cult classic “Max Neptune and the Menacing Squid” is finished and ready to be shown to the public. 2 guys, John Garside and Colin Fleming, did all the editing/cgi in between their day jobs. It is a true testament as to what can be accomplished creatively with a tiny budget.

Our FREE premiere is happening June 5th, at Whittier Village Cinema, in Whittier CA.
We have people flying in from Chicago to see it, as well as people driving over from Sacramento. Its going to be a blast, as Rob Schrab (creator of “Robot Bastard” and “SCUD the Disposable Assassin”) will be in attendance (and we invited Gil Gerard, so maybe him too?).
If you guys are available to make it out for a field trip, please email: maxneptune.tickets@gmail.com
with your full name, email address, and number of tickets needed.
We would like to see true science fiction fans in the audience, and we’d like to meet you! Maybe they will make books based on our film someday?

Our newest trailer is available for viewing on our channel: http://bit.ly/newmaxneptunetrailer

    Thanks for your time.
